Back in February we reported that Ni no Kuni is getting an animated film this year, and now we have a brand new trailer to get us excited for the release in Japan this summer.

The trailer itself is Japanese too, but gives you a sense of the colours and art style we can expect from the project, which fits nicely with the games. Yoshiyuki Momose will be providing character designs, with Joe Hisaishi taking on the music and Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino acting as executive producer and writer after his work writing the games.

In this trailer we get to see a new hero called Yu, played by Kento Yamazaki, who travels between the real world and the Ni no Kuni world with his friend Kotona. OTM is animating this adventure, which looks similar to Studio Ghibli projects (Ghibli helped with the first game).

Does this look like it can do the games justice?
