Earlier this summer we published information and images regarding a still fully functional Nintendo PlayStation prototype, the machine that Nintendo asked Sony to help them build just before the collaboration ended and Sony decided to move along with the project anyway, creating the original PlayStation.

There were some people suggesting that the images were most likely fake and that the prototype was something created in Photoshop or the like, but now it seems that it is in fact real, and even better, after all these years it still works.

US tech site Engadget caught up with owners, Terry and Dan Diebold, in Hong Kong, where they'd brought the prototype for an appearance at a retro gaming expo. It was there that they powered it up and had visitors look at the extremely rare console while it was up and running, and it was even taken apart. For more on what they saw head here.
