Crackdown 3 is coming out a week from today, as it's part of the manic February 15 release date that includes Far Cry: New Dawn, Jump Force, and Metro Exodus, but if you have yet to play any games in the series you can jump into the very first entry for Xbox 360 for no charge.

The ever-reliant source of Xbox news Larry 'Major Nelson' Hryb revealed that you can download the game totally free from the Xbox Marketplace, and then play it on your Xbox One using backwards compatibility.

As for Crackdown 3 you can check out our final impressions, and Senior Art Director Dave Johnson told us at the event that it "expands on just about everything", so now might be the perfect time to try the 2007 original before the new content lands next week.

Did you ever play the first game?
