Despite going into the 2021 Overwatch League season as back-to-back OWL Champions, the San Francisco Shock didn't really make that much of an impact when it came to the most recent season. The team never won a tournament, and also took fourth in the post-season playoffs, which was quite a let down for a team that was chasing the 'three-peat' (a third consecutive OWL victory).
Following this, the Shock has made a pretty significant change to its roster as it enters the free agency period of the off-season as it has dropped seven players, leaving just three members on the team. Brice "FDGod" Monsçavoir, Gil-seong "Glister" Lim, Charlie "nero" Zwarg, Sean Taiyo "ta1yo" Henderson, Joo-seok "Twilight" Lee, Seonchang "ANS" Lee, and Myeong-hwan "smurf" Yoo have all been released by the team as the Shock looks to rebuild for 2022.
Revealed over Twitter, the Shock said, "Today we are saying goodbye to Smurf, Ans, Twilight, Ta1yo, Nero, Glister, and FDGod.
They may be leaving us now, but #ShockFam is forever, and today is a celebration of all the joy these players have brought to us.
Thank you for giving us your all."
Who would you like to see the Shock pick up for the next OWL season?
