If you haven't been part of the closed alpha and beta tests for The Tomorrow Children you probably haven't heard much about the game since its reveal two years ago. Fortunately you'll get a chance to play it yourself this weekend.

Sony has shared the good news on their blog. As they're aware that a lot of people know very little about the game, they also shared some details about it.

Q-Games' game takes place in the Void. The true nature of the Void is a mystery, but it will claim those who stray too far from the stabilizing fields in towns. Be sure to use the bus to travel safely to islands. These islands are your source for resources needed to expand and maintain the towns. This is also where you'll find Matryoshka Dolls in need of rescue.

Your towns also requires electric power to function properly, so you'll also need to build and use Treadmill Generators to keep them going. Electricity is also important to defend the towns from the Izverg monsters. Only you and the turrets stand between them and your homes.

Fortunately you're not alone, as this is a MMO. Items on the ground and stored resources can be used freely by all, which some found frustrating in the closed beta. It'll be interesting to see how it's changed since then.

Maybe they'll change the coupon system to incentives sharing. If you go to the Ministry of Labour you'll receive Ration Coupons in exchange for your hard work. These coupons are traded at kiosks for a variety of items needed for doing more work. Hopefully there's a way to tweak this to not slow down other peoples' progress and work.

The beta client can be downloaded right now, but it won't start before 9 am BST/10 am CET this Friday. If all goes according to plan it'll close 72 hours later, 9 am BST/10 am CET on Monday.

The Tomorrow Children is set to launch later this year on PlayStation 4.
