The Wii sold a whopping 102 million consoles making it Nintendo's most successful console of all time, its successor, meanwhile, only managed to sell 13.56 million units.

This was revealed inside the latest financial report from Nintendo. While some straggler units will be sold over the next while, it will never get anywhere close to the Gamecube, another unsuccessful Nintendo console that still managed to sell 21.7 million units.

Nintendo revealed yesterday that production on Wii U has been ceased in Japan.

It is interesting to note that almost 61% of all Wii U owners have a copy of Mario Kart 8. The overall attach rate (that will likely rise as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sees release in March), is currently at 7.11 games per sold console.
