After the Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 update debacle (click on game's page to learn about what happened), Pro Evolution Soccer 2017 has no room for error in this regard, and Konami has to present a rock-solid system in order to keep teams updated and players happy.

During the video interview below, filmed in LA during E3 2016, we asked PES chief Adam Bhatti how they are approaching the issue this year and if they're sticking to the traditional Data Pack model.

"The Data Packs is something that we want to keep doing, but we're going to separate these rosters now for sure", confirms Bhatti. "So yes we're sorry [again on PES 2016 launch update issues], 100% for PES 17 you will have a Day 1 update, but not only that - we're improving our Live update system so in PES 16 it was every week you would have an update, but it was only online, and this year for 17 thankfully is for online and offline as well. So that hopefully will please all the fans and no more mistakes from us - I'm very sorry".

So the launch day (date TBC) update for PES 2017 will apparently be there, and users will see their offline modes updated at the same time as the online ones, thus getting correct players on Master League and for friendly matches, for example. In terms of regular packs, Konami plans to follow the same model for additional content besides rosters, thus adding other elements, and always gratis:

"But also for the Data Packs we're going to keep releasing those Data Packs whether it is stadiums or player faces or boots and balls... it will stay that way and it will stay free".

Watch below for more on gameplay improvements and balance, goalkeepers, graphics, sharing customisation files on PS4, user interface improvements, new replays and even the esports aspect of the new PES.
