As you might know, THQ Nordic has recently been on a bit of an acquisition spree, where they've been buying the rights to a number of famous intellectual properties. Just recently they not only bought Kingdoms of Amalur but also Alone in the Dark and Act of War.

In an interview with IGN the company's business and product development director, Reinhard Pollice, explains that it's not only fondness for these classic series which prompted the decisions to acquire them, but sound business sense.

"It's the games we loved in the past. We think they should still have a place, and we feel like it's sometimes such a pity that there is no game like that out there, so whenever there's an opportunity to get the original, we just grab it instead of creating something new.

"Whenever we acquire stuff, we really see it first from a game perspective. Is this something relevant? Is this something cool? Was it unique when it came out? Does it have a fan base? These sorts of questions are very important to us.

Pollice also noted that the company is not yet finished in purchasing IP in order to create a catalogue of interesting marquee series.
