Total Gran Turismo sales speed past 76 million

Gran Turismo developer Polyphony Digital has published the latest sales figures for its long-running racing series. Their website reveals that, as of September 2015, sales across the whole franchise have reached 76.49 million units worldwide.

Gran Turismo 6, the latest entry in the series sold just over 4.7 million copies, less than half of what the previous two main entries managed to shift. This is, presumably, due to how late the title launched in the life-cycle of the PlayStation 3.

The next entry in the series will be GT Sport, which the developer said shouldn't be considered as Gran Turismo 7. A beta for that game is due early next year.

The original Gran Turismo launched on the original PlayStation way back in 1997.
