Total War: Warhammer was an unsurprising hit when it released earlier this year, bringing together the popular strategy series and the expansive Warhammer universe to become the fastest selling Total War title ever. Fans of the series might be pleased to know that the game is getting re-released as an 'Old World Edition' next year, with current owners getting all the new content for free.

The Old World Edition package is physical only and includes a new playable race, the Bretonnia, as well as an exclusive novella based on the universe and written by Total War writer Andy Hall. The new race will simply be patched in for players who already own the game, so this new package is mainly an incentive to bring new fans to the series, as well as attract the most hardcore Warhammer buffs.

The new race, Brettonia, introduces a contrast of peasantry and knightly order, and you'll be able to control three new Legendary Lords; King Louen Leoncoeur, Alberic of Bordeleaux, and the Fay Enchantress.

The Old World Edition will be hitting shelves on February of next year, so if you've not bought the game yet you may wish to hold off until then to pick up the extra goodies. Would this package make those of you who haven't got the game think about investing in it?

REVIEW. Written by Matti Isotalo

"It has revitalised the slightly worn series in the right places, but without damaging the core gameplay."
