Last night Sega got in touch to tell us more about the burgeoning Total War Saga series, with the news that one-time Shogun 2 standalone expansion Fall of the Samurai is being rebranded to fit in with the more focused Saga spin-off series.
In truth, it's a great fit for Fall of the Samurai, which takes place during the final curtain call of the age of the samurai, when technology clashed with the swords of old and, predictably, technology won out. However, the narrower focus of FotS suits the Saga format, and it joins Thrones of Britannia as a more laser-focused experience that mixes up map conquering strategy and tactical real-time battles.
Interestingly enough, the series has been in the headlines this week with a trademark filing seeming to indicate that the next entry in the Saga series is set in Troy. Sega and CA haven't confirmed or denied that just yet, but with Gamescom just around the corner it's not long before they let slip the dogs of Total War and put us all out of our misery, one way or another.
