Everyone knew it was kind of related to the Xeno series, with Tetsuya Takahashi at the helm, but for some reason this ambitious, exclusive open-world RPG for Wii U was known only as 'X' until today.

Now, following more confusion after a suspicious Xenoblade title popped up at some retailers, Nintendo has just announced its official name as Xenoblade Chronicles X. Yes, same as the Wii title, but with 'X' suffix.

But the game won't be the same: it's building on Wii's highly-praised adventure. It adds mechs, space battles and even more depth to that original formula, changing the more traditional fantasy-oriented setup of the first game (if a whole game world on a pair of titan bodies can be considered traditional) for a more sci-fi infused offering this time.

Monolith Soft will tell a story about "a terrible intergalactic war", which "leaves just a handful of Earth survivors trying to live in a beautiful yet hostile environment." And regarding the studio's acclaimed combat system, "players engage in battles against powerful creatures of all forms and sizes using the deep battle system that builds on the triumphs of Xenoblade Chronicles for Wii".

Weaponized mechas, a massive open world "with strange creatures from small bugs to giant dinosaurs" and a deep character progression based on classes, skills and customizable arts and appearance will complete the package, exclusively for Wii U, in 2015.

Now, here's the Xenoblade Chronicles X E3 2014 Trailer, 10 new screens (with better looking mechas than main characters, at the moment the same objections as with the previous game) and the official logo with the final title.

"There's so much to do that we often forget that the future of humanity is in our hands... Time flies when you're having this much fun."
