Good game though it was, Xbox One launch title Forza 5 was light on content. Something which, according to Turn 10's Dan Greenawalt, won't be an issue for its sequel.

"This is the biggest game we've ever built," he stated in our interview during E3. "450 Forza Vista cars - that means they all can be damaged, customised, they can be driven in cockpit view and doors opened. 26 environments - ten new. A 70 hour career, 24-player multiplayer, 1080p, 60FPS."

While it's a lot of big numbers, Greenawalt ultimately says it's "not [them] that matter", but the player experience. Hence the team tinkering away with the various systems under the hood to make for a better game, which includes the new League mode.

"You're put into a division based on your skill and temperament," he explains. "So that keeps you away from grievers, keeps you with people in your same continent, same time zone, so you've better quality of service. And it also means you're in with people of the same skill level. And that's a big point: if you're going to have 24 players for multiplayer you want it to be fast and fair and fun."

Greenawalt calls it "a rethink" of how to get players in and out of matchmaking, working on population control and matching skills and temperaments on dedicated servers with one goal in mind: "We want people to feel like they're in the perfect race for them."
