Ubisoft has just announced a new partnership in order to take their place on the about-to-arrive Virtual Reality gaming train. The publisher has signed a collaboration agreement with the multimedia production company SpectreVision and the goal, according to an official statement, is "to create, develop and produce interactive virtual reality content".

There's a first project in development already.

The announcement comes via the ongoing Sundance Film Festival, as SpectreVision was firstly focused in film production, but now is expanding into music, TV, gaming and digital media.

With this approach Ubisoft aims to offer some unique VR experiences in the future. SpectreVision highlights some of Ubisoft's IPs - such as Assassin's Creed and Zombi.

"We're thrilled to be working with the team at SpectreVision on an interactive VR experience," said Patrick Plourde, Vice President at Ubisoft Montreal. "Their expertise in the horror film genre is exciting for us as a developer of interactive entertainment and we're looking forward to a collaboration that will ultimately offer fans an unforgettable virtual reality experience."

SpectreVision was founded in 2010 by Elijah Wood, Daniel Noah and Josh C. Waller. The Lord of the Rings, Maniac or Sin City movie star added the following:

"As a longtime gamer, I'm first and foremost a fan and admirer of Ubisoft. So to be collaborating with them within the realm of VR is an incredible treat!"

SpectreVision will work cooperatively with Ubisoft FunHouse Studio on this first interactive VR experience. Given the clues, what would you like it to be?
