Steam continues to develop and evolve its gaming service and now they have announced plans to compete with Twitch when it comes to streaming games. Service Broadcasting is currently in beta and allows you to stream your gameplay so your friends can watch it as it happens directly.

The service has various settings where you can let your friends watch as soon as you play, or choose that they can only watch you when they are invited. The broadcast ends when the game is over, but it will also be possible to stream an image of yourself, meaning you can maintain the stream even when not playing. The stream cannot, however, be stored for viewing at a later time. The service is now available for PC, but viewers can watch it with both Chrome and Safari.
