The UWP version of VLC has been submitted for certification to the Windows Store, meaning we may be seeing the app hit the Xbox One in a few days, if all goes well. The news comes from a tweet by Hugo Beauzée-Luyssen, VLC developer.
The media player app will presumably work the same as the Windows desktop version, which supports HTTPS and adaptive streaming, as well as a few more features. It will likely be the best way for Xbox One owners to watch videos and listen to their own music. As previously mentioned, the App should hopefully hit the store in a few days, and it will be free of charge.
