A little while back at Slush Play in Iceland, we spoke to Julie Heyde of VRUnicorns, who likes to refer to herself as the #ChickenBitch. VRUnicorns are currently working on a number of VR titles for the Vive and Oculus Rift, and so naturally we spoke to her about lots of things related to VR development, but the main thing we spoke about was the importance of Game Jams for the indie industry in general.

Game Jams, which involves lots of different people coming together and making games for fun, are an extremely common thing in the Nordic Countries, and has helped tremendously to grow the VR industry in particular. "The whole VR scene, at least in Northern Europe, connected through all these Game Jams because not everyone had the equipment." Heyde told us. "Someone who did have it would bring it, we could jam out something really fast in Unity."

"In northern Europe in general, Game Jamming is what connects the game industry." Heyde told us, when we asked her about their importance. "That's where everyone goes; game industry veterans, students, indie devs, even those not involved just show up and we're very welcoming."

VRUnicorns are currently working on two new games: #SelfieTennis and #SkiJump. #SelfieTennis is currently out now on Steam for the HTC Vive, and #SkiJump will hopefully be landing later this year. To hear about the inspirations for the games VRUnicorns are making, check out the full interview below.
