Sony tends to shut down servers for their games with online features from time to time. Sometimes they do so very soon after release, which was the case for Kill Strain and Gravity Rush 2 (although the latter cancellation was delayed after a public outcry). Now they seem to be at it again, and eagle eyed Resetera users have discovered that the PlayStation 3 titles Warhawk, Twisted Metal and Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale are about to get unplugged on October 25.

Twisted Metal and PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale will still be playable as they both have offline gameplay, but Warhawk is an online game and therefore won't be playable anymore (unless you set up a LAN). Both Twisted Metal and PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale were released 2012, which make them about six-year-old titles, while Warhawk came out in 2007 and is eleven years old. So most likely there simply weren't many players around anymore.

At what point do you think it is acceptable to shut down the servers for a game?
