Warner are doing well

Warner's approach to the video games industry seems to be paying off reports Los Angeles Times in a recent news article. The report cites several sources within the publisher including Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon who tells a story of how no one wanted the remnants of Midway after the bankruptcy and how Warner swooped in and got them on the cheap.

"We were in this building with leaky roofs and power problems, and the first thing Warner did was to move us to a new location with state-of-the-art technology" says Boon, who states the sales of the most recent Mortal Kombat, more than paid back what the Midway assets cost Warner.

Warner boss Martin Tremblay had the following to say: "The movie-based games business is broken, and for teen-targeted titles, we're going to try and distance ourselves from the movies so the game stands by itself."

An example of this is the soon to be released Batman: Arkham City that while making use of the Caped Crusader doesn't directly tie in to the upcoming cinema release "The Dark Knight Rises".
