At a recent event Gamereactor got the chance to talk to For Honor's online game director Damien Kieken about Faction War and multiplayer, two aspects of the game we are particularly curious about, and he revealed that Faction War will allow players to represent their favourite faction, whether it be Samurai, Knights, or Vikings.

"So Faction War is a thing we're working on since a good two, three years now. It was decided how in the game can we make a feature that would convey that never-ending war between the Samurai, the Knights and the Vikings. Whatever you do in the game, in the multiplayer you will earn more assets that you can use to fight for control of the world of For Honor for your faction."

As well as players being able to represent their favourite faction, the multiplayer allows the factions to fight together and against each other. "We don't want to limit the heroes that the player can play with," Kieken continued. "Let's say you have more friends playing Vikings or more friends playing Samurai but you want to play together and you want to be on the same team and that's right, we wanted to make that right. We favoured the gameplay and the player choice than a pure fantasy rule."

There's also a new 4v4 multiplayer mode called Elimination, and he had this to say about it: "The idea was let's build a team-based mode on killing users than on the strategy of capturing zones like dominion and where your life really matters, because you have only one life. So when you're dead, you're dead. People can revive you if you have not been executed. So we've built a model around that and we've put what you call boosts, like those powers that could help you, like if you're alone against two players. With all those ingredients we've created something different in our game."

For Honor is scheduled to release on February 14 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Do you like the sound of the Faction War?
