We sat down for a chat with White Wolf's Martin Ericsson to learn more about the premise for the first White Wolf video game in a decade, Werewolf: The Apocalypse.

"We're super happy to come back with the main question of Werewolf: The Apocalypse, which is when will you rage?," says Ericsson after giving us an introduction to White Wolf and The World of Darkness. "When have you had enough? When will you just want to change into a three meter tall Crinos and rip the head of insert name of politican or terrorist leader here."

"It feels like the right time to declare Werewolf right about now.Our werewolves are born, not cursed. They belong to 13 tribes stretching back to the dawn of time. They are kind of the planet's immune system in the way that they were put here to make sure that the terrifying forces of corruption, the Wyrm, are kept in check. So the hunted us humans for thousands of years, before civilisation. Made sure that we stayed in tribal groups for all of the hundreds of thousands of years that we have been homo sapiens, but not had civilisation. But they are caught between being human and animal, between being spiritual and physical, so they showed mercy. They spared us and said 'like okay, let the monkeys do their thing, let's see how they do'...

While details are scarce on the actual game itself, Ericsson did call it an action-RPG and he also concluded it would make sense for it to be a third-person game given the obvious theme of transformation.

At this point in time development on Werewolf: The Apocalypse is just starting up, and Ericsson estimates Cyanide (Dublin) will need 2-3 years to complete the project, so don't expect Werewolf: The Apocalypse any sooner than 2019 on consoles and PC.
