Housemarque, the Finnish game development studio behind games such as Dead Nation, Outland and the Super Stardust series, recently announced their first iOS (iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch) project - Furmins. What we're looking at is a physics based puzzle game featuring cute and furry little critters.
One area where Housemarque truly hits the mark is how the game will see release. With a universal "Freemium" version of the game, that anyone can get their hands on, as well as a larger premium version for those who truly get hooked. Full details in the following quote:
"Releasing in two versions, the Freemium game will be a universal app containing 12 playable levels across one game world. This will then be supported by in-app purchases to enable players to download content. The Premium game will be available in two versions; a universal app, and a less expensive iPhone/iPod version. Both will contain the full game containing over 40 levels across 4 game worlds, as well as supporting in-app purchases for additional downloadable content."
