At GDC there have been some pretty big announcements with regards to tech, but there are also some games and developers at the show in San Francisco too, including Lasse Astrup and Peter Bruun who are working on What The Golf? We asked about how they came up with the idea, and ironically it came from a dislike of the sport.

"It was a long process actually, it started out as something completely different," Astrup said. "It started out as a Dark Souls meets mini golf, like golf vs. evil I think the original pitch was [...] I guess the original thought behind it all is that golf sucks. No-one likes golf games, why do they even exist?"

"So we took that and I guess it was sort of a challenge - let's make a game that ends all golf games. So when this comes out, there won't be any golf games, no-one will take their time to make a golf game, so why bother?"

For more on the game check out the Steam page, which shows just how eccentric it can be. Do you agree with Astrup about golf games?

What The Golf?

REVIEW. Written by Ben Lyons

"Designed as a bizarre and outright silly physics-based golf parody, What The Golf? takes all the best parts of the sport and puts it into a blender of erratic madness."
