Sony's Shuhei Yoshida has explained what happened to the PS3 version of The Last Guardian, and why it's now making its debut on PS4 instead.
Speaking to Kotaku, he explained how development on PS3 came to a halt because "there were lots of technical issues. The game was not performing at speed."
The PS3 demo shown at the time during E3 has been tweaked to speed up the frame rate and gloss over the problems. The developers were still grabbling with the technical headaches when the PS4 turned up, and those problems disappeared. "It became apparent we should move it to PS4 to achieve the visual [ideal.]"
"The game is totally playable," saying it's appearance at this E3 is because of the team's confidence in finishing in time to release it next year.
